Nestled on the banks of the Applegate River, the community of Applegate is in the middle of the renowned Applegate Valley Wine Trail. Running between Grants Pass and Jacksonville and Medford, the wine trail features 18 vineyards/wineries. Five wineries – Red Lily Vineyards, Devitt Winery, Jacksonville Vineyards, LongSword Vineyard, and Fiasco Winery and Artisan Faire – connect Applegate to the nearby community of Ruch via Route 238.
In addition to its popular wineries, the unincorporated community of Applegate is home to a library, the Applegate Café and Store, and the Applegate River Lodge. A gorgeous hotel made out of logs, the lodge overlooks the Applegate River and features seven large, individually appointed rooms and a river-front restaurant.
